Edward S. Bertrand

Edward S. Bertrand is a Partner with Pierce Davis & Perritano LLP.

Edward is an experienced civil litigator. His primary practice includes the defense of products liability and premises liability claims. He has defended numerous corporations in occupational exposure claims, including asbestos lawsuits, throughout his legal career in state and federal courts. His work involves all phases of the defense of these matters, from initial discovery and depositions, through expert discovery, dispositive motions, settlement negotiations, and trial. He represents a range of manufacturers and suppliers, including but not limited to those in the automotive, fluid handling, aviation, construction, and HVAC trades. He is barred in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine. Edward has been named to the Massachusetts Super Lawyers Rising Stars list.

Edward also assists in the nationwide defense of an equipment manufacturer in asbestos litigation. As part of the national coordinating counsel team, he develops nationwide strategy for discovery, expert witnesses, and settlement negotiations. Edward also has significant experience preparing corporate employees to be witnesses in litigation and defending 30(b)(6) depositions.

Edward has also handled personal injury and business dispute claims and has steered these cases to favorable resolutions for his clients.

Edward is also active in his community and recently provided guidance to his town on compliance with the MBTA Communities Act. He currently serves on his town's Planning Board.

As a law student, he worked as a law clerk at two Boston general practice litigation firms, for a judge in Suffolk Superior Court, and for the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also participated in the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Competition in New York City. Prior to joining Pierce Davis & Perritano LLP, Edward earned a fellowship with a professor at Northeastern University School of Law where he studied the public financing of private sports stadiums.
